Assigning the volume of a solid body based on the volume of a liquid.
Water - Graduated Cylinder - Group of Irregular Solid Objects
1. Fill the graduated cylinder with 50 cm³ of water.
2. Place a solid object in the graduated cylinder.
3. Determine the volume of both the water and the solid object together.
4. Calculate the amount of displacement at the water level in the graduated cylinder.
5. Repeat the previous steps using objects of different shapes.
We observe a certain amount of liquid displacement that varies with the size of the solid object.
We conclude that the volume of the solid object is equal to the amount of increase in the volume of water when the object is submerged in it.
