an experience Total Reflection

the goal:

To demonstrate the total reflection of light

Materials and tools:

Thickened glass slide - light source

Steps:

1-  Bring the glass slide to the lab bench.

2-  Place the light source behind the glass slide.

3-  Now turn on the light source and move it at different angles and notice what happens.

Note:

1-  We observe that the light beam passes through without deflection.

2-  We notice that the light ray passes away from the column, and as the angle of incidence increases, the angle of refraction increases.

Conclusion:

1- The light ray passes through the medium of the least optical density tangential to the separating surface when the angle of incidence is equal to the critical angle.

2- The light beam is completely reflected in the densest medium when the angle of incidence of the beam is greater than the critical angle.

3- Total Reflection: It is the reflection of a ray of light within the densest medium when the angle of incidence is greater than the critical angle between two media.
